The first ‘Deepwater Horizon’ trailer is here!

By now, you’ve all heard that Teen Wolf star Dylan O’Brien (yes, I realize he isn’t supposed to be the main character. No, I don’t care.) has been pretty badly hurt on the set of the last Maze Runner movie and filming has been halted till he recovers. *quiet grumbling: ON* I loved the first movie but the second one was a letdown, and now the third one is causing our very own Stiles to get hurt? Nope, not having it.

This post isn’t about that however, but you’ll be glad to know Dylan stars in Peter Berg’s (Lone Survivor, Friday Night Lights) new movie: Deepwater Horizon and the first trailer just came out! Giving us quite a lengthy glimpse at a mud-covered, overall wearing, sans broken bones, Dylan O’Brien. In case you haven’t been following Dylan’s career as closely as I have, here’s the movie’s synopsis:
“On April 20th, 2010, the world’s largest man-made disaster occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor), this story honors the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone’s lives forever.”
The official poster and a few pictures were released before the trailer to hype it up, check them out below!

The poster looks appropriately ominous, and if you have a chance you should read up on the story the movie is based on, it’s equally interesting and daunting.

The cast is pretty star-studded, between Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russel, John Malkovich and Jane The Virgin‘s very own (and my fave) Gina Rodriguez!

By the way if you aren’t watching Jane The Virgin yet, please do so and thank me later.

Movies like this one have a difficult balance to find, between relating real-life facts and the impact on the victims and not turning into a cheesy drama for the sake of it. If the trailer is any indication however, the movie looks good and the tone seems fitting. So without further ado, watch the trailer below:
If anyone’s looking for me I’ll be either staring at these GIFs or catching up on Teen Wolf.

Deepwater Horizon opens on September 30, 2016.
