#MCM: Get to know Harrison Wells from ‘The Flash’

This week, I’ve got a crush on The Flash‘s own Harrison Wells and to say it’s complicated doesn’t even begin to cover it. This week, we’re going to try things a little differently.

Portrayer, Tom Cavanagh has been doing a killer job of playing the multi-faceted personas of Harrison Wells during the past two seasons. If you’re not all caught up on The CW’s The Flash, be warned that this post will contain spoilers regarding some moments from the show featuring my guy, Harry. Keep reading for all the reasons I shouldn’t, but do still adore the hell out of Harrison Wells.

The audience has every reason to hate the character. For starters, last season, Eobard Thawne/Harrison Wells helped create Team Flash and became a mentor to our favorite speedster only to betray them all. Don’t even get me started on the Earth-One Harrison telling Cisco that he loved him like a son and then murdering him. Thank goodness for timey-wimey fixes. There was no fixing the fact that this Harrison wanted nothing more than to destroy Barry, no matter how much he’d come to care for the younger man.

Thankfully, that Harrison didn’t get his way, but I had to say arrivederci to one of my favorite characters. See, remember how I said it was complicated — He was a bad, bad man. Still, adore him, I did. It was all down to how much charisma Cavanagh breathed into the character. So, I was sad to see him go, but thankfully he wasn’t gone for long.

Yeah, for holes in the space-time continuum and parallel worlds. Enter Harrison Wells from Earth Two. He was an ass and full of snark and wit. Clearly, I adored him even more than the previous version from season one. Yes, this version of Wells is a total smartass and not the best people person, but this time around he wasn’t evil, or at least, he has the best of intentions. He wants to find a way to save his daughter from this season’s baddie, Zoom.

Right now, he’s working with Team Flash. Well, mostly but as we saw after his encounter with The Turtle (Aaron Douglas, Battlestar Galactica), Earth-Two version of Harrison can be just as shady when it comes to getting what he wants. I still love him dearly (look at those dimples and the eyes). Who doesn’t love a man with a big brain and semi-good intentions? Here’s hoping Tom Cavanaugh stays on my tv screen as Harrison Wells….forever.

If this one ends up back on Earth-Two, there should be plenty more opportunities for other versions of the character to pop up again. Handsome, funny, smart, and has his own company…what more can a girl ask for? Well, besides the whole not killing people thing. Even if it means saving your daughter. Then again, I’m so gone, I can rationalize that one, too. Turtle was a baddie and murderer. So, Harrison’s actions, though shady were a public service, right?

Le sigh. What do you say? What’s your take on Harrison Wells in his many incarnations? Crush-worthy or just a bad, bad man? Hit the comments with your thoughts and your own #ManCrushMonday pick.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights on The CW at 8/9c

A lover of words and moving pictures, I'm a fangirl from way back. Seriously—I grew up watching Daytime TV from my granny's knee. It was Knots Landing over Dynasty, and BtVS over pretty much everything else. I watch entirely too much television and am quite happy sitting in an empty movie theater on a rainy day. And if we’re talking bromances, there's no bromance quite like the Winchesters. Cort has been writing since she can remember and podcasting for nearly 10 years with @bradzb.
