Season 2, Episode 10, “Potential Energy” aired January 19, 2016.
Poor Barry. Yet again, his love life takes a nose dive. Patty Spivot is fed up with his moody, secretive, date-breaking ways. Men!
To get to the bottom of Barry’s secretive ways, Patty decides to have a little chat with Iris. As would be expected, Barry is not thrilled when he finds that out. Patty knows that Iris grew up with Barry, but she doesn’t know that Barry carries a torch for her.
This was definitely a case of too little, too late. Barry, thanks to Iris’ urging, planned to tell Patty he’s The Flash, but all the other stuff in his life kept getting in the way. Maybe Barry should have heeded Oliver’s advice when he told Barry that guys like them don’t get the girl. You either put a big ol’ target on their backs or you piss them off by being too secretive. Either way …
Sadly, losing Patty isn’t the biggest of Barry’s problems at the moment. While everyone at Star Labs is working on a way to slow Zoom down, Otherworld Wells is looking for a way to steal The Flash’s speed and give it to Zoom. Crazy, right?
Here’s my problem with Otherworld Wells—he has promised Zoom that he’ll help steal Barry’s speed, which is why he tapped into The Turtle’s gray matter. The Turtle was able to slow The Flash down by temporarily stealing his speed.
The thing is, if Wells can figure out a way to steal Barry’s speed for Zoom, why can’t he work with Barry’s team to find a way to slow Zoom down instead? You know, play with the good guys for a change. Maybe he thinks Barry’s team will fail. He really hasn’t shown much confidence in them. The guy’s very egocentric. Of course, it’s his desire to help Zoom that makes him so intriguing.
With Zoom looming over Central City and dropping meta humans through the vortex to challenge Barry’s skills, the folks at Star Labs have their hands pretty full. And yet, the hits just keep on coming.
Good ol’ Eobard Thawn. The Reverse Flash is back. Suddenly, Central City is getting a bit crowded. Whatever will The Flash do now? I guess you’ll have to stay tuned.
The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8/7 on The CW.
