The most recent X-Men movies are a rare occurence of a reboot actually improving upon the original movies and somehow succeeding in combining both versions. Seeing past and present Professor Xs in Days of Future Past was unbelievably awesome. (Wolverine doing some naked time-travelling wasn’t bad either).
Get excited, because after a few teaser pics from Entertainment Weekly, the first footage of Apocalypse is finally here!
Let me just pick myself up from the ground and absorb the epicness of it all while I listen to the song from the trailer on repeat. (Yes, Teen Wolf fans, you’ll have recognized The Hunted by Snow Ghosts)
Also, look how adorable Jubilee looks!
Girl, I’m going to need those pink glasses ASAP please and thank you. Also, how awesome is Oscar Isaac’s enunciation in this?!
The movie also has an updated, official synopsis now:
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
Friendly reminder of what happened the last time Eric was “disheartened”.
Ominous much?! Magneto being recruited by Apocalypse is going to be wild. *whispers* I can’t wait!
Current sexual orientation: Michael Fassbender in a top hat, handling metal balls. (As I was looking for this GIF, Google kindly suggested I may want to use the term “fondle” instead of “handle”. Thank you for the visual, Google.)
Evan Peters, who plays fan-fave Quicksilver (check out that fantastic slow-motion running sequence again, you know you want to!) has also mentioned that he would have a bigger part in this movie and that his parentage with said-Magneto would be explored.
Apocalypse will bring its epicness on the big screen on May 27 2016. (And this lucky French girl will see it on May 18th, because sometimes France doesn’t delay blockbuster release dates!)
