Highlights from the ‘Teen Wolf’ panel at NYCC

Yesterday, Teen Wolf graced New York Comic Con (NYCC) with its presence during a panel filled with teasers, promises, and weird noises from one Dylan Sprayberry. One of these is not like the others … but it felt important to add. Let’s get into it!

Mark your calendars y’all

First of all: Teen Wolf COMES BACK ON JANUARY 5TH!! Which is sooner than anyone dared to hope, honestly. It’s also switching from Mondays to Tuesdays, which mostly means you’ll have to change your hashtags from #Moonday to #TeenWolfTuesday. (Tyler Posey has a couple of other suggestions but I’m not here for them, so let’s stick with TWT!). And for those of you who, like me, live in a different timezone and watch them a little later, there’s always #WerewolfWednesday!! I should probably trademark this one.

If for some obscure reason you can’t quite remember what happened in 5A (blood! chimeras! Scott and Stiles fighting! Malia being adorable in shorts! Lydia’s hair being a character on its own right!), fear not because the DVD is coming December 15th. Which means bloopers, maybe an extended cut of an episode, and -you know you want it- the shirtless montage, featuring Brett Talbot and Theo Raeken…Those two should be in a band together.

Trailer Trauma

I honestly wasn’t expecting more than a 30 second tease at this point, but you guys … We have an actual trailer for 5B! Which you can watch right here. Done freaking out? Let’s discuss!

Interestingly enough, Lydia apparently finds herself in the same little pond Theo’s sister died in, prompted by Dr. Valack’s ominous statements: “Because Theo was the first step in the right direction for the Dread Doctors”. Yikes. So how come they failed every single time after that?!

With Lydia stuck in Eichen House, the rest of the pack are scrambling in the aftermath of La Bete attacking the town and the Sheriff, as well as Theo getting himself a brand new pack of zombie Chimeras.

In fact, considering the path of destruction La Bete leaves, Theo seems to think he’s the least of their problems. The Sheriff is grievously hurt and Stiles is understandably angry about whatever led to his father getting that way.

The Scott/Stiles friendship is at its lowest point, and it’s clearly going to take those two some time to patch it up. May I suggest leaving Beacon Hills for a much needed roadtrip? Or ice-cream? (Ice-cream heals all wounds, trust me.) Regardless, the following scene is going to destroy us all when we see it in full and I am not ready.

My girl Malia somehow finds herself in the most dangerous situations (thanks, Scott! Couldn’t sacrifice anyone else?) BUT this brings along the return of … *drum roll*

CHRIS ARGENT. The bearded DILF is back!!! I’m going to need a minute. And he’s not the only one …

Deucalion is too! And his eyes are, well, something. I’ll be quietly freaking out on the floor if anyone needs me. Seriously, how cool is this?! I wonder if/how he ties in to this, since Theo claimed to know the twins and the twins ultimately ended up in Duke’s (yeah, we’re pretty tight) pack. Of all the villains on this show, after the Nogitsune he’s probably the one I’m most excited about seeing again, so this. Is. Awesome. Speaking of the Nogitsune, are the Oni back too?!

Or is this some kind of new, terrifying, creature the pack has to deal with? Because I think they’ve already got their paws hands pretty full with this slimy … individual.

And these guys, whoever they are.

Cool outfit, bro. 5B looks insane.

Panel Trivia

A few more tidbits came out of the panel itself, making the wait for January 5th seem even longer, if possible:

  • After a pretty dark 5A, the humor will be back in 5B. Bless! I need some “You’re the hot girl” scenes in my life.
  • Jeff Davis has been working very hard on getting another ex-cast member back, but won’t say who it is. (Isaac. IT HAS TO BE ISAAC. The only acceptable alternative being Allison.)
  • Chris isn’t the only Argent popping back in Beacon Hills, but I’m guessing this mean Kate, not her niece, sadly. I’ve seen quite enough of Kate in season 1, was not here for her coming back in season 4, and as far as I’m concerned, she can hole up in a cave for the rest of Teen Wolf history.
  • Lydia’s mother Natalie was the one who reluctantly put her in Eichen House, and the pack is going to work hard to break her out. Ultimately, since the location is surrounded by mountain ash, it’ll be Stiles’ job to retrieve her.
  • Theo, for some reason, thinks La Bete is his ticket to becoming a real werewolf.
  • They’re currently shooting 5×15, so they’re almost halfway done filming this season.
  • 5B should end in a big, epic way, but no one knows in which direction Season 6 will go yet (hopefully it’ll feature frat parties, pranks and everyone being incredibly happy and well adjusted.)

That’s all for now, folks! You can watch the full panel below.

Teen Wolf returns on January 5th, at 9pm. Get ready for #TeenWolfTuesday!

With a double major in engineering and fangirling, Cecile frequently feels like she lives in the wrong time zone and has become increasingly familiar with sleep deprivation. The fact that she hates coffee doesn’t help, either. Her super powers include convincing friends to watch and become obsessed with 'Teen Wolf', one adorable Stiles GIF-set at a time.
