‘The Walking Dead’: Tom Payne cast as Jesus

AMC has released the news that a key character has been cast for the upcoming sixth season of The Walking Dead, as revealed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Tom Payne (The Physician, Luck) is set to join the survivors in Alexandria in the role as Paul “Jesus” Monroe. Payne will have an option for season seven which implies that he could stick around for awhile. This wouldn’t be surprising since (spoiler alert) Jesus is still alive in the comic.
The casting of Jesus certainly does open the door for the arrival of Negan which adds more weight to the casting call for someone who certainly sounds like the character. In addition to Payne, Xander Berkeley will also be joining the cast in an “top secret” role.
