WARNING: This article is full of speculation for the show. There will also be spoilers for the comic book version of The Walking Dead. You have been warned!

For years now, fans of The Walking Dead comics have been waiting to see one of the most notorious, brutal, fascinating, badass villains bust his way into the live action series. Now though, it appears we might get to see Negan in the flesh. Can I get a ‘heck yea?’

Over on the Facebook page of The Spoiling Dead Fans, they posted the casting call for a new character. Just disregard the name Odin as AMC is well known for putting out fake names to help prevent spoilers from the comic book. Wait, this is a spoiler. You read the spoiler warning at the top so don’t blame me if you didn’t know this stuff already.

THE WALKING DEAD, Episode #616
Location: Atlanta Area
Dates: 11/9-11/19
[ORIN] 30s to mid 40s. A physically imposing, charismatic, brutal, smart, ferocious, frightening, hilarious, inappropriate, oddly friendly, fun loving sociopath that is both a leader of men and a killer of men. He has both a practical and emotional intelligence, he’s a brilliant strategist, he’s pure, dangerous, murderous, often gleeful id, that still has both discipline and a code. And he has a temper that can vaporize people. He’s truly one of the strongest personalities ever…

Everything in this description lines up with the character. Physically imposing. Check. Frightening. Check. Fun loving sociopath. Check. Leader of men and a killer of men. I think we have a winner!
Should the television series keep in line with the comic book that could lead to a bleak future for Glenn. As fans of the comic series know, Glenn doesn’t make it past issue 100 after Negan introduces him to a barbed wire bat he affectionately calls Lucille. Although that might not happen until season 7, as Episode 6×16 would be the last episode of Season 6. Then again, it doesn’t have to be Glenn who has a one-on-one with Lucile either, does it?

So what do you think about this news? Are you looking forward to seeing Negan or do you have someone in mind who should play the character? Let me know in the comments below. Since the producers and casting directors are leaving it open for Negan to be any ethnicity, there are plenty of actors who could fit into the part.

Season 6 of The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, October 11. The first episode of the season is entitled. “First Time Again”
