The first half of Teen Wolf’s fifth season has barely finished airing that already news are trickling in (from The Hollywood Reporter, TVline, and Entertainment Weekly) about the second half! No one’s complaining, though—any details about 5B are precious and will be treated as such.
Let’s start with the good news: we know when season 5B will start airing! Which is important in order to figure out approximately how many torturous, Teen Wolf-less, months we have to wait.
Below, you’ll find a break-down of what will be happening to everyone. Spoiler alert: it’s NOT GOOD.
Brick by brick
After a lengthy downward spiral during which Scott’s pack completely fell apart, Scott will struggle to rebuild it in 5B. He’ll come out changed and hopefully wiser, but who knows what kind of impact him dying during 15mn will have. Temporary deaths on Teen Wolf have varying results: from 0 impact (when Scott faked it in season 4) to worrying symptoms (uncontrollable wolfing out, lethal hallucinations), to disturbing behavior (Peter is always disturbing, but still) to going out of your freaking mind.
Meanwhile, Scott will also have to worry about Theo’s brand new zombie-like pack and the ever-increasing threat presented by the Dread Doctors and the ominous fresco they revealed.
That creature on the right does not look friendly, and Scott, honey, the best advice I can give you right now is RUN, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Chaos, Strife, and Pain
Meanwhile, the darkness we’ve glimpsed at several times in Stiles is here to stay. His fight with Scott won’t get resolved anytime soon either, so he can’t count on his best friend to bring him back from the brink. In Entertainment Weekly, Jeff Davis teases that we haven’t seen the end of Void Stiles.
“That’s part of the darkness still lurking inside of Stiles and he’ll have the fear that, is it more than just being possessed? Is there something inside that he has to keep a lid on?”
Maybe try some duct tape to keep that lid safely shut?
Or not. By the way, the Jeep is still very much alive, thank God. Which is more than I can say about Stiles and Malia’s relationship.
All but broken up with Malia after she revealed she knew about his part in Donovan’s death, Stiles still doesn’t know what she found out about her birth mother. As it turns out, Stiles won’t be the only one at conflict with his dark side: the Desert Wolf is coming to Beacon Hills, planning on eliminating her daughter, whose goal is of the “finishing off my murderous mother” quality. Speaking of the Desert Wolf, apparently she could ally with Theo in their quest to be The Worst Possible People in Beacon Hills.
On the bright side: mercenary-turned-savior-of-Beacon-Hills: Braeden is back for a lengthier stay. Which could possibly mean seeing Derek again! It’s about time Broody McPerfectFacialHair came back to his hometown, if only to give Scott some much-needed advice.
(Very, very) Mad World
Sooo, Parrish moonlights as a Hellhound who cleans up Chimera messes around the town now. The jury’s still out on whether he’s a good guy or not, supernaturally speaking. Both he and Lydia are connected to death in different ways, which could explain how close they’ve gotten.
Unfortunately, Lydia might be a little difficult to access when we see her again in 5B…both physically and mentally. Theo’s abuse of her by hitting her, accessing her Nemeton memories via neck-clawing and making her witness the rebirth of the Chimeras is going to prove to be too much, sending her into a near-catatonic state. Dr. Valack will be back as well, surprisingly proving to be more of an ally than a foe.
Rising from the ashes
Amongst Theo’s brand new pack is Hayden, the girl Liam was willing to do anything for, including killing his Alpha. In 5B, she’ll find herself torn between following Theo and turning back to Liam, while they engage in a secret romance (I’m guessing Scott won’t be too excited about Liam dating the undead). We’ll also find out why she and her sister, Deputy Clark, don’t share the same last name.
The whole season is being called one of “Resurrection”, whether from death or irreparably broken relationships, remains to be seen.
Um, if it’s truly about resurrection, I’m going to play dumb and assume this means bringing beloved characters back from the dead, okay?
What we know so far about the episodes themselves: 5×11 will focus on Stiles and Scott desperately trying to save the Sheriff’s life after Theo caused him to get hurt, 5×12 will mark Kira’s return and 5×13 will be all about her and what she’s been up to with Noshiko as they try to master the rogue Kitsune inside Kira. Even more exciting is 5×14, which will revolve around Malia and (mostly likely) the Desert Wolf.
We can expect more information to come out as filming on the second half started this week, but there are still a few months to go before promotion truly picks up again. In the meantime, let’s just try and recover from the traumatic “Status Asthmaticus”. Also, don’t forget to wish Dylan O’Brien a very happy 24th birthday today (and celebrate with a best Dylan GIFs post)!
Stay tuned for more posts about what we liked best from season 5A!
