‘Teen Wolf’: Season 5 news round-up

After months of scarce cast sightings and little to no news, production on Season 5 finally started two weeks ago and is slated to go on for 13 more (at least for 5A). Rejoice, Teen Wolf fans, the drought is over! Below, you’ll find a few of the most important news nuggets that have been released so far.

  • First official casting announcement! Cody Christian (aka Aria’s brother Mike on Pretty Little Liars) will be playing Theo:

“A lone wolf who is drawn to the spooky California town in search of a pack. He’s described as athletic and charming yet covert, and while it may appear that the young adult is new to town, his past might suggest otherwise.” (MTV)

  •  Here’s a look at Cody on set, as well as the two Dylans! The hoody game is strong, guys. Let’s also give the Khaki Pants a warm welcome, it’s been a while.
  • MTV posted a couple of videos to tide us over, so wave hello to the teen wolf himself, Tyler Posey! Or as he now wishes to be called: “The Sex Machine”
  • Additionally, here’s our favorite were-coyote, Shelley! Also featuring Posey, Dylan Sprayberry and Malia’s shorts. Which, like Shelley, we are very excited about.
  • As a matter of fact, the cast and crew haven’t been shy when it comes to posting set pictures, and we’re  not complaining. Prayer circle for Sheriff Stilinski to trade in his BHPD vehicle for this new ride, I can already picture the disastrous ride-alongs with Stiles in a sidecar!

  • Ryan Kelley, Melissa Ponzio and Tom T. Choi have been spotted on set too. Holland Roden, Matthew Del Negro, Ian Bohen, Khylin Rhambo and Orny Adams are all also expected to return.
  • Unfortunately there are a few characters we aren’t so sure about. Meagan Tandy (Braeden) is doing pilot season and apparently hasn’t been contacted by TPTB yet. However, considering she’s supposed to be involved in the Desert Wolf (Malia’s mother) storyline, there’s hope yet. Keahu Kahuanui (Danny) was entirely absent from season 4, but Jeff Davis mentioned us “not having seen the last of him” at SDCC. Fingers crossed!
  • Finally, a very exciting piece of news from January is that Teen Wolf will be having a panel at Paleyfest on March 11th (tickets here), which is a pretty big deal! Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien, Holland Roden, Arden Cho, Shelley Hennig, Dylan Sprayberry and Jeff Davis are all slated to appear. The panel moderator, Jarett Wieselman, teased this little tidbit as well:

Rumor has it that it’s going to be someone who used to be on the show so … any guesses? Jeff Davis also mentioned last fall that someone who’d left might return for Season 5, and such a reveal during a panel seems appropriate. It could be a fan favorite like Isaac (now that Daniel Sharman is done playing a vampire), but could also be a villain. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time this happened. Kate Argent, anyone?

Excited yet, guys? I know I am!

With a double major in engineering and fangirling, Cecile frequently feels like she lives in the wrong time zone and has become increasingly familiar with sleep deprivation. The fact that she hates coffee doesn’t help, either. Her super powers include convincing friends to watch and become obsessed with 'Teen Wolf', one adorable Stiles GIF-set at a time.
