A Storybrooke wedding: Most romantic Captain Swan moments

0

The wedding bells are soon to be ringing for Emma and Hook on Once Upon a Time. And if you haven’t heard, the two will be making it official on May 7  during the musical episode. Fingers crossed for a Captain Swan duet because I will just cry my eyes out. In honor of my two favorite fictional characters getting hitched, I have compiled my top 5 most romantic Captain Swan scenes. Which was hard! It took me a lot of thought….I’m supposed to be writing an article for my college’s paper, but Captain Swan is more important. Obviously.

When I win your heart…

Throwing it back to premature Captain Swan, but this scene made my little fangirl heart explode. Since I was a bandwagon fan, I knew that Emma and Hook eventually got together. However, I was impatient and was waiting for the moment they would finally just hook up. Pun sort of intended; sorry I can’t help myself! While the Neverland kiss was hot, Hook’s words in this scene were so meaningful, and that is why I am choosing this particular moment. He was not pressuring her, merely telling her he would not win her by tricking her. And well…we saw how that all worked out in the end.

Hook traded his ship for Emma…

I think we can all agree that this scene is hands down the most iconic scene of our OTP. After returning from their excursion from the Enchanted Forest, Emma sits down to talk to Hook for realz. Because let’s be honest, she had feelings for him since Neverland. Emma, intrigued as to how Hook even found her in New York City, asks the million dollar question: “how did you get to me?” To which he tells her that he had help in the form of a magic bean. “Those are not easy to come by,” she tells him. “They are if you have something of value to trade…” he replies ominously. Then it hits her that he traded his home for her. The only thing he held dear to him all for the woman who he loved but had no idea how she felt. This still gets me.

Taking Emma’s mind from the darkness…

Can we talk about how aesthetically pleasing this scene was though? Because oh my gosh. Anyway, with the darkness ebbing its way into Emma, Hook knows he has to take her mind off it. The solution? A horse back ride to get her heart racing. They embark on a ride through a field of flowers where Emma is no longer seeing Rumple haunting her thoughts. By trusting Hook, she managed to put her mind at ease for the time being. I just love how much she trusted him with her darkness. It really shows how much she’s come from season 1 where she only trusted herself. Also, I nearly cried when Hook told her that he would never stop fighting for them. And Emma saying, “well now that we’re alone…” Wink, wink. Swoon!

Story time with Captain Swan

So this may be the sweetest scene like ever. With the Evil Queen on the loose, Emma is a bit stressed. Hook wants to take her mind off the commotion and forces her to sit down for story time. He tells her the story of her parents to give her hope. “True love can break any curse and so can you because it’s what you’re made of. You can overcome these visions; you can overcome anything,” he tells her. It was a sweet sentiment in the hustle and bustle of all the bad things happening. Hook wanted to remind Emma that she is strong enough to fight through whatever battle lies ahead. The amount of love and belief Hook has in her is just…no words. Insert heart eye emoji here.

The engagement: take 2…

I would be lying if I said that both engagements didn’t make me cry. While the first one was still romantic, it didn’t hold as much meaning for me as the second. I still can’t believe the Captain Swan fandom got two proposals. What a time to be alive. The way he didn’t even care that people were in the room and just wanted the ring back on her finger made me so happy. I also found it so sweet how Emma admitted she didn’t really listen to his feelings. I just love seeing Captain Hook getting down on one knee to propose. Then Emma kneeled in front of him, accepting his proposal. I was home this past weekend from college, and my parents were in the room, and I’m sitting there practically dying inside from the feels. “Oh my gosh, you need to tweet about this!” my mom told me as Hook got on one knee. To which my dad said, “Isn’t Hook a bad guy?” I was too busy fangirling (and tweeting) because guys, Captain Swan is getting hitched!

The countdown begins for the special day. I am a little more excited then what is probably socially acceptable. It’s my duty as a fangirl though, right? Which scenes are your favorites? Are you barely holding on until May 7? Because same. Shoutout to Colin O’Donoghue and Jennifer Morrison’s chemistry!

Madeline Klepec

Madeline is a college student majoring in journalism with a minor in broadcasting. When she isn’t writing for Hollywood News Source, Talk Nerdy With Us or her college’s paper, she’s drinking too much coffee and probably fangirling over Captain Swan. She also likes to watch Hallmark movies and mercilessly rewatches ‘Once Upon a Time’.
