‘Game of Thrones’: 9 Actors who could play Rhaegar Targaryen

With the unearthing of history on Game of Thrones this season, we’re hoping for a flashback of Rhaegar Targaryen, Dany’s brother. According to Wikia, Rhaegar was a smooth-talking charmer with dark, lilac eyes and hair like his sister. He died in Robert’s Rebellion shortly after he kidnapped Lyanna Stark. We could go on and on about this guy, but you can check out our theories on our Game of Thrones Fandom page.

For now, let’s take a look at our dream list of actors who could be cast for the role.

1. Orlando Bloom, Legolas Style

The original silver-haired hunk could channel his inner elf to pull off the character. This isn’t our first choice, but it could work!

2. Paul Bettany

Throw on a wig and we’d have ourselves a Rhaegar! Bettany is known for his wittiness, and his charm would embody what we know of Rhaegar’s personality.

3. Sam Claflin

This may be one of our top picks. The guy nailed the role of Finnick in the Hunger Games films, and Finnick’s flair sounds similar to that of Rhaegar’s.

4. Cody Christian

This guy is a young buck, but it could work. He’s got the face of a lot of concept-art of Rhaegar – imagine that jawline with a fierce silver wig. Plus, his portrayal of Theo in Teen Wolf was both lovable and frustrating, which we imagine is how Game of Thrones author Martin envisions Rhaegar.

5. Alex Pettyfer

Word on the street is this guy is a bit of a pain to work with, but DAMN he would make a great Rhaegar. We have to admit his look and air is kind of how we imagine the silver stud.

6. Cillian Murphy

This guy kind of creeps us out (see: Scarecrow in Batman Begins), but he definitely has the looks for a possible Rhaegar.

7. Liam McIntyre

He played Spartacus in the series of the same name, and he did a damn good job. We could see him playing the role.

8. Jared Leto (OK, it’s a dream cast.)

It won’t happen, but it would be kind of perfect, wouldn’t it?

9. Eric Northman, True Blood season 1.

Yes; we realize this is a fictional character, but us girls can dream, right?
